I’m an independent journalist, editor, and researcher reporting on the climate crisis and its impact on the built environment.

I have reported from Southeast Asia, the southwestern United States, and South America. I was previously based in Taiwan, where I covered geopolitics for U.S. and global outlets, and the Philippines, where I covered insurgencies and the threats facing environmental defenders. I was most recently Senior International Editor for The Week Magazine in New York.

My work has appeared in The Washington Post, The Guardian, BBC, The Daily Beast, Vice, Slate, Al Jazeera, The Nation, Foreign Policy, Reuters and many more. When I’m not reporting, I’m probably on a diving boat or getting lost in a mountain range.
